TURKEY, Mardin, 30 September 2020. Ali (14) stands near the family's horse in the backyard of his house in Istasyon neighbourhood in Mardin, where thousands of Syrian refugees live together with host community. They fled from Til Temir (in northern Syria) to Turkey in 2013.

He helps his father Halit (47) who collects scraps with his horse in the neighbourhood and sells after.

Ali never went to school since he was born, he does not know how to write, how to read.
He says: ‘I would love to go to school, but I had no chance’.
