EGYPT. Abu Simbel. The Great Tample of Abu Simbel was built in the 13th century BC to honour Rameses II. The whole temple including this magnificent facade and statues was raised 65m (213ft) when the waters of Lake Nasser rose following the construction of the High Dam on the Nile. 2006.
