Peter Marlow
CYPRUS.2004.
The beach at Famagusta, in the Turkish sector of Cyprus, was partly annexed by Turkish soldiers in 1974, 33 Greek Cypriot Hotels were left abandoned in the ÔVaroshaÕ district and though technically controlled by the UN under the terms of the 1974 ceasefire, it is now a ghost town effectively under Turkish Army control, surrounded by barricades of oil drums and barbed wire.
