CHINA. Like any crop rice has to be dry before it can be taken off to market. After the harvest mounds of rice millet are left drying in the sun before being bagged up an taken to market. The whole process is low cost but labour intensive. In Asia, where 90% of all rice is grown and eaten, more than two billion people obtain 60-70% of their calories from it. 2004.
