JAPAN. Carp banners, Peace Park, near Gotemba. Carp banners are traditionally flown in the late spring for the grandsons of a family, not the daughters, but they are also flown as decoration. The carp which can swim up river from the bottom to the top symbolises success, health and happiness. 2000.
