Ernest Cole
SOUTH AFRICA. 1960s.
This wooden building is ice-cold in winter and suffocatingly hot in summer, yet the teachers and the children say that it is better than no school at all. The girls are doing the regular Friday re-smearing of the floor with cow-dung so that it is not too dusty on Sunday, when the shack is used for church services.
