IRAQ. Qurna. 2012. A man herds cattle near the Glory River, a man-made waterway built between 1992-6 when Saddam Hussein started increased draining of the Mesopotamian Marshes. Engineered to divert water from the marsh, the 2km wide and 60 km long canal is a symbol of Saddam Hussein and as such a debate continues as to whether it should be destroyed.
