UZBEKISTAN. 2013. Urga is a formerly thriving village on the shore of the Aral Sea that once had a huge ice refrigeration facility for storing fish. The village is now abandoned, with a Polish cemetery on the hilltop, and a small crew of fisherman led by Taner Bergen of Kungrad work out of a small building, now fishing at least 200kg of fish per day out of Sudochye Lake throughout the year. In winter, they take sleds onto the sea.
