USA. NYC. 2018. Carmine is the owner of an Italian restaurant on Amsterdam Avenue called Celeste. Carmine is from a small Italian town
outside the city walls of Marostica. He has been a “New Yorker” since 1986 and commuted back and forth between Italy
and New York until 2012. In 2003 he opened Celeste, a restaurant with a deep sense of community and family. It is a
favorite spot for locals, and throughout the years, he’s witnessed couples fall in love, marry and have children that they
now bring to Celeste. He feels a sense of responsibility to nourish those who dine at the restaurant with high quality,
local and organic ingredients. He works with various local and organic farms and ages his own cheese that he brings back
from Italy. Celetse also makes it’s own fresh pasta and thin focaccia bread. Carmine tastes around 15,000 wines each year
to ensure that they are of the highest quality.
