COLOMBIA. 2017. Jennifer, 32, joined FARC 16 years ago. "I'm from Meta. In that city Farc were passing by a lot. they were always close to us, when I got to know their ideology that everything should belong to everybody I was mesmerized by the idea. I never had a childhood. At the time I was living with mother, her husband and my sister. The house where I was living was at least a two-hour drive away from the next house or any shops or anything, so I was always lonely and never had a friend. I was working from early in the morning till the afternoon in the farm with my family, I was always tired. When I understood the reason why the Farcs are fighting and have guns in their hands, I became interested in getting to know them better. When I was 12 I ran away from home with my boyfriend. One month later I was pregnant. My daughter must be 18 now. I haven't seen my daughter for 16 years. When she was a baby I took her and we went to another city to start a new life but I couldn't find a job. We had no money. I gave my daughter to my boyfriend, so I could join the Farc and make some money and go back to my daughter again after some months, I could never leave and now I have been here for 16 years and I have no news from my daughter. Sometimes when we were running away in the jungle from the army I was really close to death and the only thing that was in my mind was how to get out of this situation alive. I couldn't think of anything else. In my dreams the same thing is always repeating: I'm locked up in a jail. I'm scared of going back to the city and starting a new life because I have no education. I have one word to say to other women: You have to fight for your right, if you sit and do nothing nobody will give it to you. Be ambitious and be with a man who respects you. Don't be a slave to men."
