A Japanese monument at Banzai Cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This WWII historic site is located at the northern tip of Saipan island. In 1944, towards the end of the Battle of Saipan, hundreds of Japanese civilians and soldiers jumped off the cliff to their deaths to avoid being captured by the Americans.
