Emin Ozmen
TURKEY. Suruc. September 2014. For several weeks, Kurdish Syrian refugees have spent every day waiting near the Turkish-Syrian border for their family members who stayed behind in Kobani.
In September 2014, ISIS started to attack Kobani and laid siege to the city on October 2014. In order to survive, thousands of residents, even children and the elderly, didn’t hesitate to cross over the mine fields that separate Kobani from the Turkish border. According to UNHCR, 170,000 civilians from Kobani took refuge in the camps in Turkey.
