IRAQ. Habbaniyah. February 2, 2016. The Habbaniyah Tourist City Hotel and resort, a former vacationing spot, is now home to approximately 4000 displaced Sunni families from Ramadi and Fallujah that have fled the conflict with the Islamic State.
Sanitary conditions inside the hotel are dire due to the lack of running water and sewage system.
The International Committee of the Red Cross delivers food and other relief items to the families in Habbaniyah, and has rehabilitated the main water purification station where people can access clean drinking water that is pumped from the lake.
