VIETNAM. By the year 2000, the 25th anniversary of the end of the war, celebrations had a flavour commensurate with the realities of the new Vietnam. The famous tank, number 843, that symbolised the moment of victory by crashing through the gates of the presidential palace, was replaced by a Japanese 4x4 wrapped in a cardboard replica.
