BANGLADESH. Keraniganj, Dhaka District. 2015. Child labor. Keranigani, on the Buriganga River at the south part of Dhaka, is one of the largest ports in the world. This section of Dhaka District houses hundreds of small local garment factories where laborers are paid by piece. Most work a minimum of twelve hour days, six days a week. Children as young as 10 years old work from rural areas work for free under two year "training" contracts sleeping on the concrete factory floor at night. Most clothing in these small sweatshops are produced for regional distribution.
