Tegucigalpa. 1998. Central Market area. Residents clean mud and debris from downtown Tegucigalpa stores and workplaces following Hurricane Mitch. Floodwaters caused by Hurricane Mitch flooded large sections of the country and left deposits of mud up to several feet deep. As well as destroying tens of thousands of homes and businesses, river currents destroyed 70% of Honduras' roads and bridges and most of its crops.
