shouting for soccer balls and candy. Other times they’d hurl rocks. One gunner in the turret of a Humvee
was hit by a rock at a checkpoint and shot the kid in the face with a slingshot. Onlookers gathered in a fury,
and the checkpoint was abandoned after a rushed apology.
