THAILAND. Mae Hong Son. Naisoi. 1998. Several hundred of the roughly seven thousand members of the Padaung tribe (known for their long necks) now live in Thailand. Female members wear layers of brass rings around their neck frin when they are young, making it appear as if they had elongated their necks. Tourists pay to visit the settlements and that income plus income from selling handmade souvenirs, covers living expenses for the Padaung. About 40 women live in the Naisoi settlement.
