CHINA. Datong. Shanxi. 1982. Yun'gang Grotto caves were built when it was the capital of the Northern Wei dynasty in the latter half of the fifth century. These are the oldest and largest Buddhist caves in China with over 50,000 Buddhist statues with soft gentle smiles that are different from Longmen.
