He went with a friend, Eric, an Iraq veteran with severe post-traumatic stress disorder. They were
staying with me, and on the way back to my apartment, Eric yelled for me to pull over. Gasping
for breath, he wrenched open the door and vomited. When he shut the door he wiped his mouth
and stared vacantly out the window for the rest of the ride home.
