CUBA. Havana. 2007. This is the tomb of Jeannette Ryder, founder of a Cuban organization for abandoned dogs and other animals, (called Bando de Piedad de Cuba in 1905), in HavanaÕs noted cemetery, Necropolis Crist—bal Col—n. When she died in the early 1930Õs, her faithful dog Rinti slept at the foot of her tomb, refusing to leave or to eat until he died in the same location. Inspired by the story, a local sculptor, Fernando Boada, created a special tomb for Rinti and his mistress.
