MYANMAR (Burma).Mandalay. 1986. Because of irrigation problems, most farmers on Myanmar(Burma) grow only one crop of rice a year. After enough rain falls during the monsoon season in May, they use cattle and water buffalo to plow the fields and then plant the rice manually, with everyone participating. In the fall, the farmers harvest the rice as delicately as if they were picking up a baby.
