George Rodger
The Pondo tribe girls have special types of beadwork headdresses which denote their status in life. Adolescent girls wear a single band round the forehead, betrothed girls a double band, and married women yet more varied designs. The married women also change their blanket of red ochre for one of pale blue after they have been proved good and faithful wives. 1948.
