INDIA. Amristar, Punjab. 1999. Amristar is famous as the site of the head temple of Sikhism. Sikhs are deeply religious and many of them succeed in the military and in business. The Main Hall of the head temple is covered with gold leaf, making it literally a "Golden Temple." Marble covers the grounds of the temple and not a speck of dirt is found anywhere. All visitors to the temple are given free meals; preparing thousands of meals a day is one of the services performed by the Sikh adherents.
