ISRAEL. Jerusalem. Church of the Holy Sepulchre. 2000. Coptic pilgrim and priest. Pilgrims participate in the services in the church of the Holy Sepulchre which houses the stone on which Christ's body was washed, and a second stone from which he rose from the dead. It was visited by pilgrims of the Russian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, Coptic, and Syrian Orthodox faiths for the christmas which was celebrated by the Orthodox faiths, on January 7. The Church is shared by shared by several denominations and orders, including the Roman Catholic Jesuits who celebrate Christmas on December 25. An estimated four million tourists and pilgrims visited the Holy Land for the millenium.
