On the 8th of December John Lennon was shot five times in the back outside his New York apartment by an obsessed stalker by the name of Mark Chapman, hours after signing an autograph for him. Chapman is still in prison. A Memorial service was held a few days later on 14th. Dec 1980 in Central Park, where these photographs were taken. The site, opposite the Dakota Building where John lived, is now known as Strawberry fields.
