PHILIPPINES. Manila. 1995. The Philippines has more Catholics than any other country in Asia. In 1995, Pope John Paul II visited Manila and celebrated outdoor Masses on January 14 and 15. This photo is of the first Mass, with about a million people in attendance. On the following day, a Sunday, over four million people crowded the area around Razal Park, where the Pope said the second Mass.
