ISRAEL. West of Jerusalem. June, 1948. "Burma Road", the road between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. It was built in order to supply Jerusalem with food and water, during the first Arab-Israeli war, when Jerusalem was cut off from the rest of the country. The road was often attacked by the Arabs.
