IRAQ. Zamaqi. February 26, 2003. A man detonated a bomb he was wearing near a Kurdish military headquarters in northern Iraq, killing himself and three others. The authorities said the attack, at a military checkpoint in Zamaqi, was probably the work of Ansar al-Islam, a militant Islamic group that the United States contends has connections to both Al Qaeda and President Saddam HUSSEIN of Iraq.
