Filipina-American journalist Maria Ressa was among the recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize announced on October 8th. The Norwegian Nobel Committee decided to award her and Russian counterpart Dmitry Muratov the 2021 prize "for their efforts to safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for democracy and lasting peace."
