Civil Rights activist and educator Robert Parris Moses has died at the age of 86.
Beginning his career as a New York City school teacher in 1958, Bob Moses joined the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in 1960 and became its field secretary. During this time he engaged in a grassroots approach to activism by leading SNCC's campaign to register black voters in Jim Crow Mississippi.
