The Savoy Ballroom in Harlem was one of the first major racially integrated public spaces in the United States, opening in 1926 with a policy of non-discrimination. Located on Lenox Avenue between 140th and 141st Streets in Harlem, New York, the dance hall served as the heart and soul of the neighborhood for 32 years.
