Distro - US Marines in Beirut

Eli Reed

U.S. Marines were stationed in Beirut, Lebanon from 1982 to 1984 as part of a multinational peacekeeping mission. Their presence aimed to help stabilize the country and bring an end to the conflict between Christian and Muslim factions. While in Beirut, Eli Reed photographed the deployment, offering a glimpse of foreign influence that had a major effect on the trajectory of the Lebanese Civil War.
