June 8th 2023, 70 years since The United States Supreme Court rules that restaurants in Washington, D.C., cannot refuse to serve black patrons.
Magnum Photographers
District of Columbia v. John R. Thompson Co. transpired during growing racial tension in Washington, D.C. due to the unfair treatment towards the Black Community. On June 8, 1953, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the segregation policies practiced by Thompson's Cafeteria were illegal.
