10 Years Since the Beginning of Arab Spring

December 2020 marks 10 years since the beginning of Arab Spring. This two-year period (2010-2012) saw a series of political protests and revolutions sweep across the Arab world, including conflicts which are still unresolved today.
On December 17, 2010 Tunisian street vendor Mohamed Bouazizi set himself on fire in protest of harassment he had received from local government officials. This act sparked a revolution in Tunisia which resulted in the toppling of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali's regime.
