In the beginning of 2020, Australia fought weeks of unprecedented and destructive bushfires.
Due to an usually dry and warm winter, Australia's fire season had begun very early - in September, 2019. By February, more than 200 fires had burned roughly 12 million acres, forcing more than 100,000 people to flee in one of the largest evacuations in Australia's history. The impacts of the wildfires could be felt in the community with many residents losing their houses and livestocks.
