As a hopeful sign for the future of supersonic travel, the American company Boom Supersonic successfully broke the sound barrier in January 2025 with its demonstrator aircraft, the XB-1. This achievement marks the first step toward their "new Concorde”, a commercial jet called Overture, expected by 2029 and capable of connecting Paris and New York in just over three hours.
