In the aftermath of the tsunami, Thomas Dworzak visited the areas around the town ofTrincomali and Galle in Sri Lanka to witness the destruction. This strongly Tamil populated area has been ravaged over the past two decades by civil war, caught in the conflict between the Singhalese Government army and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam movement (LTTE). In addition to more than 60,000 lives lost during this civil strife, over 30,000 Sri Lankans died when the tsunami devasted the country's coastline.
