Ian Berry 

With only months to go before the waters of the Yangtze river begin to rise behind the Three Gorges dam, the resettlement of more than a million Chinese from their ancestral homes nears completion. Some go to a series of newly built tower blocks on the hills above the level of the huge new lake that will drown the three gorges; others are being ferried more than 1000 miles away to Shanghai. They carry as much as they can but leave behind generations of history, the graves of their ancestors and a way of life that cannot be recreated. They also leave behind the world's biggest rubbish dump where...
