Portfolio - Revenge – Syria, 2012-2015 

Emin Ozmen 

When the war started in Syria, I was geographically very close (in Turkey, my homeland). I felt really concern and I started to document it. I was able to witness and document it very closely until 2015.

On July 2012, I crossed the border for the first time into Syria illegally from Turkish side. Leaving a year behind after the beginning of the Syrian upheaval, the clashes between Assad’s forces and the Free Syrian Army spread to Aleppo. The conflict between Shabiha, a pro-Assad militia known for torturing locals for years, and dissidents got more violent, rebels were attempting to take down the...
