In 1983 Magnum photographer Abbas covered the editorial offices of the left wing newspaper Liberation, founded in 1973 by French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre and Serge July who was its Executive Editor.
Some 35 years later, Abbas returned to its slick new offices which seem densely populated by computers. Gone are typewriters and the relaxed look of its journalists. An air of sober professionalism prevails now. The newspaper is now centre-left with Laurent Joffrin as its Executive Editor.
