Highway 1 is Australia's national highway, joining all the mainland state capitals and coastal towns that circumnavigate the continent. At over 20,000 kilometres long, it is the longest national highway in the world. Trent Parke followed the trail along the length of the Western Australian coast from Karratha to Albany, exploring the tropical coastline to the drought-weary scrubland and the cities, roadside motels and dramatic landscapes in between.
