On November 3, 2018 Major Brent Taylor, a 17 year veteran of the US Army, was killed while training local troops near Camp Scorpion in Kabul. Major Taylor was in his second term as mayor of North Odgen, Utah when he took a leave of absence to complete his fourth tour of duty in Afghanistan. Peter van Agtmael, on assignment for TIME Magazine, photographed Major Taylor’s widow, Jeannie, and the seven Taylor children around their home and community.
