Marshall started performing under the name Cat Power in Atlanta after dropping out of high school. She soon moved to New York and was signed to Matador Records in 1996 and soon after released the acclaimed "What Would the Community Think?" Her latest album "The Greatest" was released by Matador in January 2006.
