The 17th "Karmapa", incarnation of Buddha, young Urgyen Thinley has fled Tibet under dramatic circumstances (January 2000) in order to join the Dalai Lama in India.

Martin Franck has spent years working on the generation of the reincarnated holiness in Tibet. She has portrayed Urgyen Thinley in his monastery , as well as the 3 years old Jamgon Kongtrul Ripoche IV , recognised by Urgyen Thinley, who has also fled Tibet with his parents, and who now lives in Nepal.
