Spring Time - the silly season

Perhaps it is because we are a nation deprived of sun, but as soon as it appears in spring and early summer we seem to slip casually into the silly season. Our time is taken up with fetes, bowling, Punch and Judy on the beach, action in the allotments, raffles, garden parties, agricultural shows judging the best cucumber competition ... the list of entertainment is endless.
