Iran is at a crossroad, five months after its new President, Mohammad Seyyed Khatami - elected with a landslide 20 million vote - assumed power. He is believed to represent the "liberal" party within the regime which runs the country since 1979. Above him is Ayatollah Khamenei - the religious guide , God's and the 12th imam's representative on earth - who leads the more conservative and revolutionary party. Unoblivious to the pending struggle for power between the two factions, Iran's civil society seeks ouvertures in the rigid religious code imposed by the mullarchy.
