More than one hundered thousand refugees from Kosovo have fled into Albania the first week of April 1999, after the beginning of NATO bombings against Serbia. Some 30-40.000 refugees per day have passed the check point at Marina, the boarder to Albania.

Nicos ECONOMOPOULOS has documented the dramatic moments at the boarder when refugees leave Kosovo behind.

These photos were shot on April 4+ 5 1999, two days before the boarder was closed by Yugoslavia.
