The 2nd Robot World Cup (Robocup) was held in Paris, 2-9 July 1998 to coincide with the FIFA football World Cup. Robocup is an attempt to foster Artificial Intelligence (AI) and intelligent robotics research by providing a standard problem where wide ranges of technologies can be integrated and examined.

For a team to compete in Robocup, various criteria must be met, including: design principles of autonomous agents, multi-agent collaboration, strategy acquisition, real-time reasoning, robotics & sensor-fusion.
