A. Abbas 

The 8th Islamic Summit was held Dec 10-12th 1997 in Tehran . By welcoming representatives of 55 countries the Islamic Republic of Iran attempted to break out of its diplomatic isolation. Interventions by President Khatami and the Supreme Religious Guide Khamenei showed the two sides, moderate and extremist, of the Iranian Revolution which is now at a crossroad.
